2012 Olympics Men's Gymnastics Kohei Uchimura

I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am to watch the Olympics this year, especially my favorite sport - Men’s Gymnastics.  What makes this particular Olympics so appealing is that it is in London.... oh wait, No, that’s not it.  Actually, I want to watch the Men’s Gymnastics this year because we will be witnessing one of the greats compete on a world stage in the likes of Michael Jordan but of Men’s Gymnastics.  His name is Kohei Uchimura - a 23 year old, 5’3” 119 lb Gymnast from Japan.  Uchimura has won the last 3 world championships in the all around competition and got a silver at the last olympics in Beijing after a couple of falls on the Pommel Horse.  What makes Uchimura so exciting is that not only is his level of difficulty super high, but he makes it look effortless.  He has no weak events, he rarely breaks form, his difficulty level and execution is off the charts, and that is why HE is MY PICK for the Gold in the all around in London.

Of course I’m rooting for the US to win the team competition, but at the same time, I can’t wait to watch a legend at work. The Japanese team will give the US some very stiff competition.  Which leads me to my question for you today - what do you think is the coolest event to watch in Men’s Gymnastics?  My personal fav is high bar, but leave me a comment below and let me know what you think.  Make sure you guys watch the Men’s Gymnastics in the London Olympics and let me know your thoughts.  Did Uchimura live up to your expectations to be named THE Best of all time?  And if not, Who is?

How To Get an Olympic Gymnasts' Body!

With the Olympics days away, many of you who watched the Olympic trials are wondering How in the world the Male gymnasts get so stinking ripped. So, I made a list of 3 things gymnasts do to get so ripped, and maybe you can be inspired to apply some of it to your life!
1.  Put your time in!  Work out 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day.  I know this is a foreign concept to many out there, but 6 days of training, 4 to 6 hours a day is what these guys have been doing for the past... oh 15 to 20 +... years.  Yes, years.
2. Do Really Hard Stuff!  You won’t see them in front of the mirror doing biceps curls to get those guns, Gymnasts are ripped because they do a bunch of really hard exercises like Rope climbs, Handstand Pushups, planches, crosses on the Rings, sprints, plyometrics, and more - and they do them daily. That whole 48 hour rest period between working on soar body parts doesn’t apply to these physical specimens. Not to mention that during pre-season and during season competitive gymnasts do routines - one to five of them on all six events, or sometimes they break it up into 3 routines on 3 events, 2 on 4 or some combination of whatever makes sense for that individual, at that point in their training.
3. Don’t Eat Bad Food! On top of all the training things gymnasts do to get all ripped, they also tend to eat pretty dang well.  You won’t see them chowing down on tex mex and cheesecake.  Gymnasts don’t typically eat tons of food since they want to stay as light as possible so they can lift their own body weight with as much ease as possible.  They would rather sacrifice putting on extra bulky muscle for keeping their weight down.  So typically they eat balanced meals heavy in vegetables, fruit, and lean protein.
