Cari's Post Operation Video Blog

I just brought Cari home from achilles tendon repair surgery and she insisted on stopping at the grocery store to pick up some food!  She is doing great, hobbling around on her crutches and is in good spirits.  It has been a challenging week for us and it will be a long road to recovery.  Thanks for everone keeping up with us and for all the thoughts and prayers.

Thompson's Test for Achilles Tendon Tears

Cari tore her Achilles tendon today doing box jumps!  Imagine that, years and years of gymnastics, double pikes on floor, Tsukaharas on Vault, and thousands of landings later, all it took was a lousy box jump to tear it!  She never had any injuries during her gymnastics career, and the box finished her off :)

This is the test that the doctor did at the ER to determine whether or not it was completely ruptured.  Pretty cool if you ask me!

How To Make a Healthy Smoothie

Here is a video I posted after one of my workouts on How to Make a Healthy Smoothie.  I like to use a mix of Frozen Berries, whey protein powder, Acai Juice, and water.  I use the Magic Bullett to blend it since you can only make what you will drink :) and not make a thousand Calorie Smoothie.  This smoothie has about 300 Calories in it and it is loaded with Antioxidants from the Berries and Acai Juice as well as protein from the Whey protein powder.

Jon's Healthy Breakfast (for Lunch) Burrito

When we say to our clients to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, here is an example of what we mean.  This is a quick meal that Cari and I make probably 3-5 days per week, usually for Lunch.  It is an egg white breakfast burrito consisting of broccoli, carrots, serrano pepper, mushroom, red bell pepper, olive oil, and a flax seed whole wheat tortilla.  It is approximately 350 Calories and loaded with nutrients and protein.  Enjoy!
