Olympics Gymnastics Rings - Back Kip
Monday, August 13, 2012 at 5:23AM If you are inspired by all the gymnastics going on in the Olympics and you have a set of Rings you can play on, here’s something for you to try. I’ve heard it called a backward roll, a reverse muscle up, but gymnasts call it a back kip to support. It is very similar to a pullover to support on a bar, but on the rings. You should have a good support on the rings before attempting this skill, and be able to hold a support and maybe even do some dips on the rings.
You are going to start like you are going to do a muscle up, with a false grip. Pull up and roll your body over the top of the rings and rotate your wrists so you can push down for support on the rings. To slow down your rotation, open up your body and get rid of any pike.
This is kind of an easier way than a muscle up to get up to a support on the rings. You can use a bit of momentum to get your body up to support. So If you are working on your rings training, give this a shot!
