Ivan Ivankov One Arm Handstand

Just got back from Champaign Illinois where among many other things, I did a circuit with the Illinois Gymnastics team which I’ll put an annotation to at the end of this story.  So, at the end of the circuit which was a blast by the way, the Illinois Assistant coach Ivan Ivankov says this... but I was fine.  The Circuit was tough for me strength wise - I’m just not doing gymnastics every day any more... like for 11 years.  Anyways, I think it’s cool that Ivan is the assistant coach there.  Me and my teammates used to watch videos of him when we were training there at Kenney Gym on how to do certain skills perfectly.  He was the gold standard as far as I’m concerned.  Now he’s there coaching... and that’s cool.  What’s also cool, is - and I missed this on video of which I’m ashamed of is that I saw him bust out 30 handstand pushups in a row on the parallel bars without a struggle.  So, after seeing that, I say - “Hey Ivan, do something cool.”  And he does this.  Which is awesome - and I know the hand balancing purists will be all bent out of shape over his form - which isn’t perfect there’s some shoulder angle and other things that circus type people who do this all the time will point out.  But it is still cool because he’s a beast and is able to muscle out a straight arm, straight body press to handstand from a dead hang, then go to a 1 arm handstand totally off the cuff.  I doubt he practices this, but because of his super powers he is able to pretty much do whatever he wants to.  Anyways, I just thought that was cool and that I would share it with the world.
Also, another cool thing is that we brought our daughter Averi to Kenney gym where I think she had the most fun in her entire life running up and down the vault runway, hanging on the uneven bars, and falling on mats.  In about 17 years, watch out for this future Illini.
