RE - Bear's Weight Loss 9 11

I met Bear at Vidcon 2011 where Bear and I had a great conversation on camera, yet off camera we had a bit of a heart to heart where Bear explained to me his desire to lose weight and start taking better care of himself.  I help people who are in exactly Bear’s shoes on a daily basis and since I’m in the LA area and he is in Yosemite, we talked about a way I could get him some professional help over YouTube to start taking action steps to get healthy and stay healthy by changing his lifestyle.
So Bear, ... Here we go.  Starting this week, Bear and I are going to be going back and forth posting video responses on a weekly basis where I give Bear some homework to do over video, and he will post back video of him doing the homework.
I will devote time each week coaching Bear and giving him things to do, but I need YOUR Help!  This is a difficult time in Bear’s life, he cares about his daughter, his health, and really wants to make some serious changes.  I need you guys to show your support for Bear by giving him some encouragement.  Comment on these videos, share them on Facebook and Twitter, and tell him your successful weight loss story.  Let him know you care.  And if you have some weight to lose or just plain want to take better care of yourself, do this with us!  Post your video response of your healthy active lifestyle for the week. Because we all could do better!

Bear and I spoke on the phone last Wednesday and we agreed that for this week he is going to start getting active and moving again on a daily basis.  Bear has some aches and pains in his knees and ankles which create some unique and interesting challenges, especially since last week, he weighed in at 355 lbs.  Although he is limited, He has a few options for getting active .  First he can walk his driveway which takes about 20 minutes up a hill and gets his heart rate up.  Next he can drive a bit to a pool to swim which is a great idea since it is very low impact on his joints.  He can also ride a bike, but he must be careful if he rides a bike outside. A stationary recumbent bike would be ideal.   The goal for the week is to do one of these things each day.  It will only take about 40 minutes max each day but it will be do-able for him, promote bloodflow, create happy endorphins afterward - which too create a happy state of mind and will trick him into doing this again and again to get that happy feeling on a regular basis.
So, Bear, that is your homework for the week.  Do something each day. Make time on a daily basis to do something GOOD for yourself! You are worth it and it will be the foundation of your new healthy active lifestyle. Lets start here and we will add more next week.
I’m looking forward to your video response and I can't wait to see all of your progress over the next few months.
see ya next week!
