Cari's Achilles Tendon Rupture Recovery Video Blog #4
Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 9:29PM Cari's video blog #4, 6 weeks post surgery for her Achilles Tendon Rupture. She has had some difficulty with her wound healing after she took a spill while using her crutches and split it open. Her walking boot rubs on the wound and that isn't helping at all.

Looks real good. Have a question for ya if you don't mind? I just ruptured(complete) my acheilles on 1/24/10 and 12 days post op I still have a lot of swelling in the ankle area...can't hardly see my lateral and medial malleolus. But, what has me concerned is my calf muscle is totally falccid, and even when I do light range of motion it hardly moves. In additon to this, my thompson test is still negative? Not sure if this is normal or not so any insight would be nice before I go see the Doc for follow up.
I'm sorry to hear about your achilles tendon rupture. I definitely know what you are going through. I can't speak as to exactly what is happening in your situation, but I felt similarly during my recovery. It took months before I saw any definition return to my calf and even now, almost six months out, I still have significant atrophy. I'm sure you are healing just fine, but if you are concerned, you should contact your doctor. I wish you a speedy recovery!

i was told i had a fully ruptured tendon and told that i needed surgery and put in a cast.for untold reasons i keep the cast on for 24 weeks(i hurt it on sep 10 2009 today is mar 23 2010.) i went to the doctor to prep for surgery he cut the cast off did some tests called another doctor and she ran some tests and they said that my tendon is healed then she told me some rehap moves gave me an appontment with a pt and sent me home and said to walk on it no boot no cane nothing.now first i was happy my tendon is working im moving my foot up down and around but when i whent to take a step my heal hurt really really bad. its been 3 days after the casts been off my hell still hurt but not that much i have to use a cane to walk. what do you think?
It sounds to me like you need more PT! Your heel pain could definitely be some plantar fasciitis. Unfortunately, it is just one of these injuries that takes a long time to completely heal. It seems like you had a pretty severe partial tear. Almost better to tear it completely, get surgery and let it heal from there. Cari tore her's just after you did, yet check her out now - http://www.fitnesstrainingbyjon.com/blog/2010/3/21/cari-ham-6-months-post-achilles-tendon-rupture-going-for-a-r.html. She is running and feeling better each day.
Good luck Daveone, it is a tough process... we know.
